Job Description:
Begin date: 8\/1\/2026 Full Time: Yes Number of Workers Requested: 12 Job Duties: Sugar Boiler C \u2013 Twelve (12) full-time temporary positions available from 08\/01\/2026 to 01\/31\/2027 in Jeanerette, LA with M.A. Patout & Son, Limited. To assist with the operation of the steam heated vacuum pans, batch cookers, and crystallization to manufacture raw sugar during the harvest season by setting temperature and pressure gauges on cooking machines to produce sugar and performing related sugar boiler work as needed or assigned. Preparation of equipment prior to harvest making adjustments to ensure in working order for the first day of grinding. $18.11\/Hour; $27.17\/Hour OT; 84 hrs a week during harvest season, 40 hrs a week after harvest season until the end of the contract, overtime paid after 48 hours during harvesting and after 40 hours after harvesting; Overtime Hours will vary and are not guaranteed; worker will have 30 minutes paid lunchbreak during the workday. The employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law. Optional on-site lodging offered to each temporary seasonal employee hired in the position at no cost to the worker. Shift work: will be required to work varying 12 hr. shifts (12pm-12am; 12am-12pm). Must be willing to work 7 days per week during grinding. No minimum education required. No on-the-job training provided. A minimum of 3 months experience required in job offered. A single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Wages are paid bi-weekly. Employer will provide U.S. workers at least the same benefits, wages, and working conditions that will be offered or provided to H-2B workers. Employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. The employer guarantees to offer employment equal to at least three-fourths (3\/4’s) of the workdays of each 12-week period of the total employment period; and, if the guarantee is not met, the employer will pay the worker what the worker would have earned if the employer had offered the guaranteed number of days. The 12-week period will begin the first workday after the worker’s arrival or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later. As applicable, daily transportation to and from worksite will be provided by employer. The worker will be reimbursed for transportation and subsistence expenses from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment by check by the employer upon completion of 50% of the period of employment covered by the job order or earlier, if appropriate. This includes at least $16.78 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with documentation of actual expenses. Also, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s outbound transportation and subsistence if the worker completes the job order period or is dismissed early from employment for any reason by the employer before the end of the period. The employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek the full cost for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government. Employer will provide or reimburse inbound and outbound transportation and daily subsistence costs for corresponding U.S. workers who are not reasonably able to return to their residence within the same workday.
