Au pairs are young adults from countries across the world who love children and are eager to put their experience to use living with an American host family and caring for their children. This highly regulated year-long extendable program is operated by the United States Department of State and designated sponsors like InterExchange. Host families benefit from this unique cultural exchange while receiving engaging and personalized childcare. The Placement Specialist works with host families from the time they inquire about the program to when they match with their ideal au pair. You will support a region of families looking to match with an au pair with varying needs, requests and childcare timeframes. It will be essential to become familiar with our pool of available au pairs to understand their needs as well as those of the host family.<\/p>\n
To be successful in this role, you should be success-oriented and adept at building relationships, and working quickly and efficiently to help families make the best match possible. You will need to be extremely organized, and enjoy using your influence and sales skills. Telephone, email and text are all communication methods used heavily in this position and you should be able to easily adapt your communication style and messaging based upon the different needs and motivations of your clients. Meeting goals, working independently and as part of a team are important aspects of the position.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in a sales or influencer role, is familiar with au pair childcare and can relate to the challenges that busy parents face in securing care for their family. Equally important is ensuring a great match for our international au pair participants who will be going into a homestay setting and assuming a great deal of responsibility in a new setting.<\/p>\n
The work location is hybrid with two-three days in our New York City office. The following job description is not all-inclusive, but it is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this job.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities include:<\/p>\n
Speak with leads and engage with host families through phone, email, text, and chat to learn about their family life, childcare needs and guide them through the process of matching with an au pair.
Use a consultative sales approach to help the family in understanding how the program works.
Use your knowledge of available au pairs to make thoughtful, timely and suitable recommendations to the family
Proactively communicate with families to discuss the outcome of their interviews and determine next steps
Develop an understanding of available au pair candidates and provide coaching to au pair candidates as needed
Achieve weekly, monthly, and annual matching goals
Collaborate with local program coordinators to provide the best possible service to their matching host families
Document customer interactions in the systems used by InterExchange
Strategize with the placement team on growth strategies and operational improvements
Be willing to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate families when needed
Candidate Profile<\/p>\n
Demonstrated experience in a sales position or other influencer role
Confident and persuasive communicator with strong written and verbal skills
Effective relationship-building skills with a strong sense of tact and diplomacy
Proficient using online systems and tools, with CRM platforms strongly preferred (Hubspot, Slack, Zoom, Google, InterExchange proprietary systems)
Adept at time management: prioritizing and juggling responsibilities, working under tight deadlines, and handling last minute changes\/requests
Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented, organized and flexible
Have a team-player mindset and willingness to collaborate with colleagues, provide coverage for co-workers when needed and take on new responsibilities and projects
Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in challenging situations
