The same way companies compete today by having the best human workforce, the companies building for the future will compete by having the best agent workforce supporting their human bosses. We call them Model Employees, and we are already building them today.<\/p>\n<p>We are a small, talent-dense team of engineers, researchers, and operators who have built some of the most influential AI systems in the world, including reinforcement learning infrastructure at OpenAI and data foundations at Scale AI, with additional experience from Together, Two Sigma, and Watershed.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re backed by Benchmark, Sequoia, Lux, Greenoaks, Conviction, and Elad Gil. We work in-person in San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>The Role<br \/>As a founding product engineer, you\u2019ll be responsible for combining technical prototyping, product intuition, and deep AI integration to create specialized intelligence and systems for frontier enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>This role is perfect for a builder. You thrive on creating things that didn\u2019t exist before. You believe shipping and learning fast comes first, but you still hold a high bar for code quality and product taste. You\u2019ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with world-class AI researchers and customers, designing interfaces and workflows that bring adaptive intelligence into production. You\u2019re eager to push the boundaries of what\u2019s possible with frontier models, reinforcement learning, and enterprise infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>What You\u2019ll Do<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design and prototype new interaction paradigms, pairing closely with our founders to shape the product through code, intuition, and craft<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with AI researchers and enterprise partners to translate cutting-edge research into usable, trustworthy systems that deliver measurable outcomes<\/li>\n<li>Move fast with full ownership, working end-to-end from concept through prototype to production deployment<\/li>\n<li>Shape the technical architecture and product direction that will define how enterprises adopt and scale adaptive intelligence<\/li>\n<li>Grow into expanded responsibilities over time, including technical leadership, product strategy, and mentoring future team members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What We\u2019re Looking For<br \/>Technical expertise<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-stack development experience with fluency across modern web frameworks and cloud infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to build both frontend and backend systems, and harden prototypes into production-grade products<\/li>\n<li>Strong skills in rapid prototyping and iteration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Product intuition<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Well-developed product taste and opinions about what great enterprise user experience looks like<\/li>\n<li>Experience translating technical capabilities into compelling product features<\/li>\n<li>A bias toward speed and discovery, balanced with care for quality and reliability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Strong Candidates May Also Have<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience building AI-powered products or working with machine learning APIs<\/li>\n<li>Background in human-computer interaction or enterprise software design<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience as a founder or early engineer at a startup in a zero-to-one role<\/li>\n<li>Published projects, open source contributions, or side projects that demonstrate technical creativity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Logistics<br \/>Location:\u00a0This role is based in San Francisco, California.<br \/>Benefits:\u00a0Applied Compute offers generous health benefits, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, lunches and dinners at the office, and relocation support as needed.
